Happy Halloween!!!

It's the day after and the sugar rushes are wearing off! We had a great Halloween - we started our celebration with a party at Gabe's house last week. The kids did crafts, made pizzas and ate yummy cupcake ghosts.

Then over the weekend we headed to a pumpkin festival at Hunsader Farms. The kids wrestled with pumpkins, played some carnival games, checked out the goats and ate a lot of fair food.

Pumpkin #2

Amiya surprised us by wanting to try the bungee jumping thing at the fair - she's not one for bounce houses, trampolines and the like.

Lookin' a bit nervous.....

...but havin' a great time!

Fast forward to this Wednesday when Amiya had an Under the Sea party at school, then a party at Tyler's house and then Trick or Treating. (Today is low-key. No surprise there, right?)

Trick or treating was a lot of fun with both kids - Amiya was completely into it reciting the elegant trick or treating poem at every house:

Trick or treat
Smell my feet
Give me something
Good to eat.

I put it in pink to really highlight the irony. Dainty Princess Aurora in pink tulle and metallic nylon (!!!) complete with curled hair and lip gloss, offering up her toes for our neighbor's olfactory pleasures. No one took her up on the offer.

Princess Aurora and Fireman Kev

Kev was a master trick or treater and very unhappy when the night came to an end. It took him all of one, count 'em, ONE house to get the idea. He was given a Twix bar at that house and walked back to Vinay at the curb smacking his lips trying to get to that candy. From then on, from house to house all we heard was Kev smacking his lips. He did remember his manners though and said "Eckgecko" at each house. (That's monkey for thank you.)

We also carved a pumpkin for the first time this year. Amiya designed, Mommy carved, Kev supervised. It's got oval eyes (very precisely ordered by the designer), a triangle nose, a regular mouth and a K on one side and an A on the other. Kev thinks it's Elmo and every time we go out the door, he runs to it and gives it a big ol' hug. It's about to rot (gotta love Florida humidity), so I've got to make it vanish before he heads out in the morning.

What fun. Those two are adorable. We had few trick or treaters this year. All the kids must have grown up :(

More candy for you!

The kids are available for rent if you're that intrigued by their adorableness!!!

You have to teach Amiya the rest of the song....the one used at our house

Trick or treat
Smell my feet
Give me something good to eat.
If you don't
I don't care.
I'll pull down your underwear.

This is, of course, followed by hilarious giggles for at least five minutes (I am so glad Halloween is OVER).

Ooooooh. I wasn't ever taught that version but I like it!!!

I, too, am thrilled that Halloween is over. November = turkey. Turkey = tryptophan. Tryptophan = well rested Mommy!
