Spa Gupta

On Wednesday, Kev opened a door over his foot and tore up his right big toenail pretty badly. It's mostly lifted off of the nail bed, but still attached at the base so it does a lot of oozing and blushing. It's not fun for us, but he's more or less oblivious. We have been keeping it clean and dry and trying to protect it from him picking at it. But today it seemed more red than previously and more crusty, too. So it's been long soaks in epsom salt and water and then antibiotic salve, bandages and socks. It's very spa-like around here for Kev lately. We put on an entertaining video (Caillou, naturally), made sure manatee was with him, delicately removed the bandages from his feet and then massaged the skin around the offending nail while he sat and watched his favorite whiney four year old.

Tomorrow we'll head to the doctor just to make sure nothing is horribly wrong (beyond that which is, obviously, horribly wrong) and to make sure that, unlike his Great Granfather on his Grandpa's side, he will retain all ten toes for a good long time.
